Forthcoming Events & Club News

Thursday 30th March 2017 at 7.00pm:  AGM to be held in the new Reception Conference Room, Rawlins Academy.

Our 2017 season starts soon (website will then be updated for the new season).

The Club House

We have four, outdoor, shale courts that are regularly maintained by a professional groundsman.  The surface is particularly good for the knees and close line calls!  There is also a Club House which hosts a number of activities throughout the season and has showering and changing facilities. The Club ajoins The Manor House at Quorn gastropub, which is handy after strenuous exertions on sunny Club Nights.

Our season starts in April and our Club Nights, tournaments and league matches run mainly throughout the summer until BST ends. Those able to play during the daytime can continue to play and use the Club House throughout the year, provided that the courts are in a suitable condition. If there is a lot of rain and/or frosts, members are requested not to play on our shale courts as this could damage them.

Courts are also not available for general play on the few evenings when there are home matches for the women's or men's league teams.

Our membership ranges from young children in our Junior sections (from 6-14 years old), Intermediates (15-18 years old) and Adults (some of whom are in their 80's!).   We all enjoy the fun of developing our tennis in friendly competition and good camaraderie in a pleasant countryside location.

Out of season, some Club members arrange between themselves to continue playing on indoor courts at nearby Loughborough University. We also organise a number of social events during this period to keep members in touch with one another.

In addition, we usually hold an annual black-tie dinner dance or barn dance and a pre-season party.   Since we are affiliated to the Lawn Tennis Association, QLTC members also have access to tickets for Wimbledon through the Club allocation and British Tennis Membership.

Club Nights

The 5.32pm to Loughborough Central

Club Nights are the heart of our Club and take place on Wednesday and Friday nights (from about 5.00 p.m. till dusk) throughout the season.   Unlike some other clubs, you do not have to be in one of our Club's teams to play on Club Nights; it's for all senior and intermediate members. You don't have to book either, you just have to come along.  Play is mainly centred around mixed-doubles but varies according to the availability of players and courts.  Play rotates, so you are always sure of getting a game. Depending on demand, there is also Club play on Saturday afternoons for both adult members and young members (11 years old and over).

Club Tournaments

Relaxing after the Summer Barbeque tournament

Club members arrange a variety of tournaments for themselves once a month on Saturdays or Sundays throughout the season.   These are usually associated with some after-tournament functions such as a barbecue, a cheese and wine party or a tea party, which family members can join (see below for this season's dates).   There is also an annual Club Championship for mens' and ladies' singles, mixed doubles and ladies' and mens' doubles. The finals are held in mid-September and are often followed by a curry evening at a local restaurant in the village.

Club Tournament dates for the 2016 season:

Sunday 8th May 2016 2.30pm "Let Them Eat Cake!" Tournament
Sunday 29th May 2016 2.30pm Fish & Fizz Tournament
Sunday 26th June 2016 2.30pm Strawberries & Pimms Tournament
Saturday 30th July 2016 2.30pm Summer Sangria Tournament
Saturday 3rd September 2016 2.00pm Roquefort & Merlot Tournament
Saturday 1st October 2016 1.30pm Dina's Delight Tournament

League Matches

QLTC has four teams in the LTA Leicestershire County Doubles Leagues. The Ladies' First Team play in League 4B and the Ladies' Second Team play in League 6A. Our Men's First Team play in League 5A whilst the Men's Second Team are in League 6A. Team captains are always on the lookout for new players so, if you would like to play league tennis for our Club, please get in touch. Club members not wishing to play in matches are very welcome to come down to the Club and watch the keenly contested games; support from the sidelines is always appreciated.
